One group of actions in the pilot site of Cap des Trois Fourches has started to be addressed through the project Agriculture, Biodiversity and Participation in the Cap des Trois Fourches (ABIPA C3F), led by EUCC. The overall goal is to halt biodiversity loss in North East Morocco, enhancing the natural values of Cap des Trois Fourches while supporting the sustainable development of the region through a fully participatory process.

In particular, the project will communicate to local stakeholders the values of biodiversity and landscapes of the area and how to protect them. Furthermore, the capacity for sustainable resources management in Beni Chiker will be strengthened in the fields of land cover restoration, agro-forestry, and biodiversity conservation. Local stakeholders will be encouraged to develop a more collaborative attitude. To set an example, app. 15 ha of land will be restored through agro-forestation and land cover restoration. An agricultural cooperative or similar structure will be set up to ensure sustainability of the intervention. Policy and decision makers will be made aware of these participatory and collaborative approaches to achieving sustainability goals and biodiversity conservation, and advised how to apply them for all SIBEs in Morocco. The project will also strengthen cooperation of local, provincial, national and international initiatives.
