A 2nd follow-up to the Year of the Dolphin 2007 is a project to investigate a number of dolphinaria in several parts of the world. This work was first undertaken by the Dolphin Fund at the request of TUI-NL (Kras) and Travellife.

EUCC and independent local experts (auditors) are checking environmental and ecological aspects and whether or not the animals were born in captivity or in the wild. A considerable number of dolphins in dolphinaria are imported from countries where dolphins are being caught and slaughtered (e.g. Japan and Cuba) and the target is that dolphinaria should no longer buy animals.
